My journey with my “Playing for Keeps” book continues
Throughout my “Playing for Keeps” book, I share my “Lucy Moments” at the end of most chapters that contributed to my career success story in honor of Lucille Ball. She was a brilliant business woman in Hollywood who broke barriers with a charming sense of humor. In 1962, Lucy became the first woman to run a major television studio, Desilu Productions, which produced many popular TV shows, including Mission: Impossible, Star Trek, and I Love Lucy.
The fun Lucy Moments in my book are meant to show that we are all human and how telling these stories in business can help diffuse tensions and egos, especially in the board room if you are the only female. These stories could be called, “you can’t make this stuff up…”
If Lucille Ball had a Lucy Moment of Synchronicity, this would be her story.
When I was bringing my daughter Tori home from Volleyball practice one day, an orange butterfly went zooming across my windshield as we pulled into the garage. If a butterfly could have a jet trail, this one would most surely have it.
When something so unusual like this happens, I pause and think, WHY?
Afterwards, I went in the house, looked at my emails (as I usually do when I get home.) I had received an email from a book award company confirming my submission. I thought to myself, huh? So, I decide to review the categories to make sure that I haven’t missed anything. I looked closely at their list of options one more time, and the category ART stands out like a blinking light. As a result, I proceeded to send a follow-up email to enter my “Playing for Keeps” book that features dad’s art into the competition.
That evening, I see the time 11:11 in two places. “Overall, the meaning of 1111 is to pay attention to your thoughts. Most importantly, remember that you always have the Creator and your divine team of angels and spirit guides with you.” So, I’m thinking good!
The next day, Tori and I are leaving our neighborhood. As I get to a stop sign, a huge Monarch butterfly flies off of the top of my car. He flies just enough to show me his huge, glorious orange self. I think again, huh.
The next day, I go on a walk. I bring my “Playing for Keeps” inspired Playlist of my favorite songs. As I’m leaving, I say “Lord, if I am on the right path for my book, please give me a sign.”
I later leave my neighborhood and cross the street, and notice these two huge bugs going in circles. As I get closer, I see that they are two Monarch butterflies that are almost in a dance or are in sync if you will. Immediately, I could hear Wayne Dyer say, “get the picture!”. I fumble turning my phone to photo mode. As I start to take pictures, the butterflies start swooping near me. Screaming, I put my arm over my eyes…then peek and start to take rapid fire pictures. I’m thinking no one is going to believe me. Not just one Monarch, but two…IN SYNC!
You can imagine what this looked like. I’m a woman standing on the corner, covering my eyes, shrieking with my arm up in the air. It was oh so familiar, I was having a Lucy Moment. Wayne Dyer’s Monarch butterfly sat on his finger for an hour…my two Monarch’s dive bomb me! Finally, they split up and for the next 30 minutes, I took pictures of them.
When I got home, I went through all of the pictures. I came across this one. There are butterflies on the top right with an arrow on the street below them pointing in the direction that I was walking. It was a sign that I am on the right path.
I learned two things on my walk that day: A. God has a sense of humor (at my expense, so I feel right at home) and B. I am on the right path because Synchronicity is showing the way.
